Why We Built This Reference
Printed resident directories may have faded, but Windsor’s source records remain. They now sit in different systems. The Town Assessor handles property data, the Town Clerk keeps land records, local registrars maintain voter records, and court matters pass through the Hartford Judicial District. Historical volumes remain at Windsor Public Library, Windsor Historical Society, and larger archives. This reference gathers official search routes, custodian contacts, coverage notes, and access limits without suggesting that one source lists every resident.
What the Reference Contains
- Pages by angle: the street directory (address-keyed records), the city directory (the historical shelf), and the resident lookup (one-person searches)
- The rolls and offices: Town Assessor, Town Clerk, registrars, court clerks, vital records offices, and the library's local history collection
- Walkthroughs: how to trace who lives on a street, how to read a directory entry, how to follow a household across the decades
- Access rules: what Connecticut law opens, what stays closed, and how a records request works when something is not online
What Remains Outside Our Role
This is a privately run reference site. It has no connection to the Town of Windsor, a Connecticut agency, any court, or any library. These limits always apply:
- We cannot confirm whether a specific person currently lives in Windsor
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot promise that every coverage year, link, or office detail here is current at this moment
Only the custodian office can confirm, certify, or correct a record. Nothing found through this site may be used for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions.
